Rosacea Redness - Some Tips to Help

Although Rosacea should always be treated by a qualified medical practitioner there are a number of things you can do and some rosacea skin care products you can use to prevent irritation to the skin which will make rosacea worse.

1. Use only mild products on the skin. This includes soap, cleaners, cosmetics and toners. Anything that will irritate the skin must be avoided including astringents, cleaners containing alcohol, peeling agents and abrasives. Use only mild soaps.

2. Protect the skin from the sun at all times using a high SPF sunscreen. Use a sunscreen that is specially made for sensitive skin.

3. Use products containing vitamin C. ascorbic acid (vitamin C) has a beneficial effect on the redness associated with rosacea. use a low concentration initially and increase if there is no irritation.

4. Azelaic acid can be used to lighten the skin and help to reduce redness.
